  • Attaching fire sprinkler heads and fitting to pipes to ensure pipe systems are free of leaks

  • Receives wiring diagrams, specifications, and instructions to the work to be done on any scheduled and emergency repair, installation, and inspection.
  • Analyzes all types of drawings and wiring diagrams to locate and install circuits and equipment
  • Has the ability to determine material or replacement needs for a job
  •  select a logical approach to “troubleshooting” and repair problems. 
  • Plans details of working procedure to effect the most logical approach to the job. 
  • Considers all safety precautions and proper isolation of circuits to cause a minimum of interference to operations. 
  • Determines the necessary tools and materials required for the job.

  • Reassembles, tests, and adjusts equipment for safe and proper operation. 
  • Performs work on “hot lines” as required. 
  • Replaces coils, resistors, rheostats, relays, etc. 
  • Adjusts contacts, relays, bus rigging, etc. 
  • Reconnects terminal leads, panel boards, and distribution feeders.  In emergencies, shunts out defective coils in order to get equipment back in operation. 
  • Changes DC motor characteristics by shunting series coils, etc. 
  • Installs conduit, fittings, switches, controls, fixtures, wires, ect.
  • Connects all types of electrical equipment as required for new installation or replacement of facilities. 
  • Makes all required splices and connector joints. 
  • Adjusts all new equipment for proper operating characteristics.

Fire Alarm Technician

Experience: At least 2 years experience with Fire Alarm systems

Description: City Fire Equipment Company of East Hanover NJ is seeking an experienced fire alarm technician with demonstrated service and troubleshooting skills. This technician must be able to install, inspect, service and repair various types of fire alarm systems. Also essential are the ability to analyze fire alarm drawings, diagnose causes of electrical problems and install various system components, such as panels, pull stations, detectors, etc. Knowledge of, or willingness to learn, all types of fire protection equipment is a plus. This includes wet and dry chemical systems, FM 200 systems, fire extinguishers and exit/emergency lights. NICET II certification is also a plus. 

Training, Experience & Qualifications: 

  • Customer service oriented; interpersonal skills
  • Dependable and motivated.
